The Diagnosis That Changed Everything
Share
By 2018, I had been living in survival mode for years. Exhaustion was my constant companion. I caught every cold and flu that came my way. I napped for hours during the day, went to bed early, and still woke up tired.
Doctors had told me over and over that my bloodwork looked “normal.” But I knew deep down something was wrong.
🌱 Finally, Some Answers
When I went to my primary doctor that year, I explained everything again: the exhaustion, the daily naps, the constant sickness. This time, she decided to look deeper. She ran more extensive bloodwork — and that’s when I finally had an answer.
The results showed I had Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV).
My numbers were at 220.
💕 What the Doctor Said
When my doctor explained what EBV was, she told me something I’ll never forget: “There’s no cure. It will only get worse.”
In that moment, I felt devastated — but also determined. I refused to accept that as my future.
✨ Connecting the Dots
Together, we traced back my history. That’s when we realized it all started in 2001, when I caught mono from my boyfriend at the time. Because I never got treatment, the virus stayed in my system and developed into Epstein-Barr.
Suddenly, the years of exhaustion, the constant illnesses, the inability to exercise without getting sick — all of it made sense.
Hearing those words could have crushed me. Instead, they sparked a fire to fight for my health. In my next post, I’ll share the turning point — and the first step that gave me hope again.
